 Financial Accountant

Our client is an award-winning international law firm with offices in Europe, US and Asia. Their worldwide headcount stands at 700 employees. The firm’s client base is a mixture of corporate clients and high-net-worth individuals and families. 

They are looking for an enthusiastic and capable Financial Accountant to support the European Assistant Financial Controller with all aspects of financial accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Completion of monthly general ledger reconciliations 
  • Managing the distribution of reports each month 
  • Review of the Balance Sheet reconciliations 
  • Profit and Loss Account preparation
  • Meeting with budget holders to discuss cost variances and report thereon                                          
  • Oversee production of fixed asset registers                                                                                       
  • Preparation of VAT returns                                                                                                   
  • Review monthly, quarterly and annual National Statistics returns and other annual returns
  • Assisting in the annual budgeting process. 
  • Assisting in the preparation of the Firm’s statutory accounts
  • Overseeing the day-to-day running and development of the expense management system – Chrome River.
  • Maintenance of key masterfiles in the Elite accounting system
  • Other ad hoc projects and reports as required
  • Dealing with the annual audit including preparation of an audit file and providing requested information
  • Preparation of partners distribution schedule and supporting communications
  • Preparation of EU partner leaving statements
  • Control and reconciliation of partners accounts
  • Involvement on the 3E project including cleaning up balances relating to closed offices
  • Assisting in the development of the department's intranet content, including policies and procedures.
  • Preparation of biannual payment practices report
  • Preparation of PWC and other surveys 
  • Perform ad-hoc duties within the accounting department 

Candidate Profile

  • Professionally qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) accountant with minimum 2-year PQE.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of UK GAAP (ideally FRS102).
  • Experience working in a law firm or other professional services environment is desirable but not essential.
  • Highly PC literate, including strong Excel skills.
  • Previous experience with Elite 3E and Xcelerate highly desirable.
  • Commercial aptitude with a modern, proactive approach.
  • Excellent communicator and manager with high levels of interpersonal skills and the ability to lead & inspire others.
  • Ability to inspire confidence throughout the firm.
