My client is a well-established medium-sized law firm with around 100 fee earners offering legal advice to corporate and institutional clients as well as to private individuals. Their specialist practice areas are Commercial and Residential Property, Private Client, Corporate and Litigation. They are based in prestigious offices in the heart of London’s West End. 

They are now looking to recruit a Legal Cashier. The successful applicant will have good MS Excel skills and have some cashiering experience. The main responsibilities for this role are processing incoming client payments and assisting on assistance on other cashiering.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor bank accounts to identify and process incoming payments in line with SRA/AML rules
  • Handle queries from secretaries and fee earners and advise on correct usage of the firm’s payment approval system
  • Liaise with our bank’s payments team to resolve any payment issues 
  • Process client account payments and other transfers as and when required
  • Calculate and invest surplus funds on overnight money market
  • Provide cover for other cashiers (both office and client) as and when required
  • Process supplier invoices and staff/partner expenses when required to cover
  • Update client interest as and when required 
  • Reconcile financial statements in order to calculate and return residual balances on completed matters

Candidate Profile

  • Experience working as a Legal Cashier within a law firm
  • Strong and up-to-date knowledge of the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules
  • High level of technical competence in legal finance operations
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels across the firm
  • Demonstrates resilience and remains composed under pressure and during busy periods
  • Flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to support changing business needs
  • Self-motivated and proactive with a strong sense of initiative
  • Previous experience using the 3E finance system is desirable
