Our client has wide portfolio of clients, not just in the real estate sector, ranging from entrepreneurs through to multinational brands and institutions, advising and assisting with the acquisition, development, management, financing, and sale of a wide variety of real estate and other assets.
They are now looking for an experienced Cashier who has a minimum of five years’ experience working in
a busy legal practice. The ideal candidate will be fully conversant with the SRA’s accounting rules, regulations, and AML controls, as well as having a solid understanding of double entry book-keeping, with an excellent eye for detail.
Responsibilities
- Daily posting of incoming electronic payments received into client account
- Sending CHAPS/BACS payments
- Logging all cheques received onto an excel spreadsheet and posting
- Posting of disbursements
- Dealing with disbursement write offs
- Posting and printing outgoing cheques both on office and client account
- Processing client to client journals
- Processing office to office journals
- Processing client to office bill payments
- Daily bank statement reconciliation on client account
- Daily banking (as an when required)
- Entering Counsel’s fee notes onto the purchase ledger system
- Paying out Counsel’s fees from purchase ledger system
- Writing back out of date cheques and notifying fee earners
- Supervise junior legal cashier
- Ad hoc duties
- Desired but not essential skills: Billing, posting of office overheads and credit cards, answering ledger queries, processing staff expenses.
Candidate Profile
- High level accuracy and attention to detail.
- In depth knowledge of Solicitor's Accounts Rules.
- Have solid experience in a Legal Cashiering role within a Legal Firm.
- Works exceptionally well under pressure.
- Outstanding organisational skills.
- Excellent Legal specific finance systems knowledge - P4W (Partner for Windows) preferred.
- Ability to work with a wide range of individuals in a professional and friendly manner
