Our client has a history going back to the late 1800s when they were established in the City of London.  They opened their first overseas office in the 1970s and now have offices in ten locations across the globe. With over 500 lawyers worldwide, they are a dynamic, commercial firm and leaders in their specialist business areas. 

The main responsibility of the Senior Commercial Analyst is to support the firm's drive towards profitable growth by partnering with the Head of Commercial Finance, ensure strategic alignment of priorities and delivery of first-class support to the partnership.

This includes supporting practice group leaders in driving growth and profitability; advise partners on client and matter profitability. 

Responsibilities

  • Drive and co-ordinate the annual planning, budgeting and forecasting of revenues for your designated practice areas.
  • Support the practice group in steering performance to meet agreed objectives by providing insightful analysis and commentary on performance. 
  • Analyse profitability at matter, client and partner level. Provide constructive solutions to improve profitability.
  • Advanced ad hoc analysis as required to support the review of financial performance of business segments.
  • Provide financial mentoring and training to associates and newly qualified lawyers on profitability and pricing related topics.
  • Work with the client on-boarding, Revenue, and Finance Systems teams as SME and propose enhancement/development to systems to enhance quality of information.
  • Any other ad hoc duties as may be required.

Candidate Profile

  • At least 4 years' business partnering experience, preferably in a law firm or a professional services organisation.
  • Accounting background/qualification advantageous.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Highly numerate with the ability to manipulate data / experience in data modelling.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Stakeholder management, with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships.
  • Strong communicator, both written and verbal, as the role will require presentation to key stakeholders and collaboration across departments.
