Our client, a highly regarded London-based solicitors specialising in crime, family law and human rights have an opening for a Senior Legal Cashier to join their team, who has good communication skills, is highly motivated and willing to take on new challenges.
The Senior Legal Cashier is required to oversee, supervise and co-ordinate the work of our cashier team. They will have responsibility for ensuring the team meets its objectives and will be required to cover absences as necessary.
Duties include posting invoices and cash receipts, bank reconciliations and supervising others in the team.
This role requires someone to be efficient, have exceptional attention to detail, be extremely proactive, be good at problem solving and have proficient administration, IT, numeracy and literacy skills.
Responsibilities
- Overseeing the cashiering team and assisting with queries
- Ensuring that requests in the cashiers inbox are dealt with
- Providing cover for team members
- Daily clearing of items on task list
- Reviewing the unallocated receipts list and ensuring they are cleared
- Monitoring suspense ledgers
- Monitoring charity donations ledgers
- Reviewing weekly potential client to office transfers
- Printing cheques (very few)
- Paying in cheques (very few)
- Ensuring Bankline authorisation for above is obtained
- Posting weekly Legal Aid Agency BACS receipts
- Writing off bills
- Writing off disbursements
- Keeping register of write offs > £2k
- Managing residual client balances
- Maintaining SRA Accounts Rules breaches register
- Reviewing monthly client and office bank reconciliations
- Setting up new Bankline users
- Setting up new legal users (online payment system)
- Setting up new Clear Spend users
- Training and managing new / temp staff
Candidate Profile
- Supervising and/or managing a small team (AP Dept 2x staff/Cashiers 2x staff)
- Using an electronic case management system
- Conducting regular reviews of internal controls relating to the processing of clients funds, including suggesting improvements to systems and procedures if appropriate.
